The Hindi Language
Hindi is the official language of India. It is the first language of between 240 and 500 million people, and the second language of more than 120 million people. It is widely believed that Hindi evolved out of Sanskrit. Standard Hindi is written in Devanagari, and draws its words from (Indo-Aryan) Sanskrit.
